How Difficult can it be to Forecast Demand at Breuninger?

It can be as simple or intricate as we like – and we are not known for our lack of intricateness. E. Breuninger GmbH & Co. is the largest premium and luxury department store chain in the DACH region and forecasting demand for its products can be challenging on many levels. We give in this presentations insight into the caveats of providing a Unified Demand Forecast (UDF) useful to all departments of our organization, focusing on the solution of the business problem with excursions into our data infrastructure, algorithms and the many pitfalls of organically grown processes.

Dr. Alec Sproten, Head of Data Science @ E. Breuninger GmbH & Co.

Since 2020, Dr. Alec N. Sproten is heading the Data Sciences of E. Breuninger GmbH & Co. Prior to that, he helped German Enterprises and large SMBs in the data-driven transformation of their After-Sales with a focus on algorithmic pricing. Dr. Sproten is a psychologist (U. Liège) and holds a Ph.D. in Economics (U. Heidelberg). His Ph.D. was followed by a position as assistant professor for economic theory (U. Erlangen-Nuremberg) where he taught and researched mainly topics of new media, tax compliance and social norms.
